Spark Pro vs FLIR ONE Pro, TOPDON and Thermal Master

Five plug-in thermal cameras that people weigh against Spark Pro, side by side: the thermal sensor, the frame rate, the sensitivity and which phones they work with. We sell Spark Pro, so take our view with that in mind — the tables show where the others do better.

Updated October 2026

Short answer

Four of the five have the same 256×192 thermal sensor at 25 Hz as Spark Pro; FLIR ONE Pro has 160×120 at 8.7 Hz. If your iPhone has a Lightning port (iPhone 14 or older), Spark Pro won't fit — the TOPDON, Thermal Master and HIKMICRO cameras come with a Lightning cable or adapter, and they are more sensitive and reach higher temperatures.

At a glance

CameraThermal sensorFrame rate
Spark Pro256×19225 Hz
FLIR ONE Pro160×1208.7 Hz
TOPDON TC002C Duo256×19225 Hz
Thermal Master P3256×19225 Hz
Thermal Master P3 Lite256×19225 Hz
HIKMICRO Mini2 V2256×19225 Hz

The thermal sensor is how many temperature readings make up the picture: 256×192 is about 49,000, 160×120 about 19,000. More readings let you stand back from a wall or a ceiling and still see one pipe or one gap in the insulation. The frame rate is how often the picture updates: at 25 Hz it moves smoothly as you sweep, at 8.7 Hz it lags a little behind the phone.

If your iPhone has a Lightning port, Spark Pro is not for you. It plugs into USB-C only, and the maker doesn't include a Lightning adapter. Any of the other five will do; FLIR sells a separate version for each kind of phone, so buy the one for yours. Every phone against every tool: phone compatibility.

HIKMICRO Mini2 V2under 40 mK350–400 °C (retailers differ)20 g

All of them start at −20 °C (−4 °F). A lower mK number separates smaller temperature differences; Spark Pro's 50 mK is behind the TOPDON, Thermal Master and HIKMICRO cameras and ahead of FLIR ONE Pro. Top temperature only matters for hot work — engines, exhausts, stoves, flues. For walls, windows, pipes and outlets every camera here has range to spare. FLIR ONE Pro is the only one with its own battery, about an hour per charge; the others run off the phone.

Who should pick which

  • Lightning iPhone (iPhone 14 or older): the TOPDON TC002C Duo, the Thermal Master P3 or P3 Lite, or the HIKMICRO Mini2 V2 — each comes with a Lightning cable or adapter. Or FLIR ONE Pro in its Lightning version.
  • Circuit boards and small electronics: the Thermal Master P3. It has a manual focus ring and focuses as close as about 8 mm.
  • Engines, exhausts, kilns, anything above 350 °C: the Thermal Master P3 or P3 Lite (up to 600 °C) or the TOPDON TC002C Duo (up to 550 °C).
  • Outlines from a normal camera on the thermal picture: FLIR ONE Pro. Its MSX draws the edges of window frames and outlets onto the thermal image; none of the others here do that. The trade-off is 160×120, 8.7 Hz and a battery to charge.
  • Whole-house checks with a USB-C iPhone 15 to 18 or an Android phone: Spark Pro. It plugs straight into the phone with nothing to charge, and against FLIR ONE Pro it has more than twice the thermal readings (256×192 against 160×120) and a smoother 25 Hz picture.

Questions

Does Spark Pro work with iPhone 14?

No. iPhone 14 and older have a Lightning port, and Spark Pro plugs into USB-C only. The TOPDON TC002C Duo, Thermal Master P3 and P3 Lite and HIKMICRO Mini2 V2 come with a Lightning cable or adapter, and FLIR sells a Lightning version of FLIR ONE Pro.

Which of these has the most thermal detail?

Spark Pro, the TOPDON TC002C Duo, the Thermal Master P3 and P3 Lite and the HIKMICRO Mini2 V2 all have a 256×192 thermal sensor. FLIR ONE Pro has 160×120.

Why would I choose FLIR ONE Pro?

For MSX: it adds outlines from a normal camera to the thermal picture, so you can see exactly which frame or outlet is cold or hot. It has a lower-resolution thermal sensor, refreshes at 8.7 Hz and has a battery to charge.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if it's unused and in its original packaging; change-of-mind returns go back to the supplier's warehouse in China and you pay the return postage. If it doesn't work with a phone we list as compatible, we refund you in full, including return shipping.
